Rides nice, great lift, install wasn’t bad, took about a day

Really nice lift, made a huge difference on trails and made for nice ride, install took about 6-8 hours so it wasn’t bad. Definitely satisfied, definitely would recommend.

Great lift that doesn’t break the bank. Quality parts and they shipped fast. It was just what I wanted and I did not have to piece it together. I would definitely recommend!

  4. Matt

Fairly satisfied with the lift. The front shocks didn’t come with new bushings which was disappointing. I’ve never seen shocks not come with the proper hardware. We made it work. Its a little too soft in the rear and a little too stiff in the front. Makes for a funny ride when driving empty. Loaded down for camping and the front is soft and the rear gets softer. I have bilsteins all the way around.

Great lift and easy install. Exactly what I was looking for.

Overall, ride quality on-road is good, with a little desire for a slightly softer spring up front (if running stock – without the added weight of a bumper and winch), and slightly less bounce. Once my winch and bumper are installed, I’m confident that the spring rate will appropriately match the added weight, and will ride just about perfectly on the highway and city streets with the perfect blend of firmness & comfort – and without any bounce. Out back, the springs ride very well and will probably ride a little softer once there’s some weight back there as well – but overall, absolutely fine as-is. The front Bilstein 5100s do a great job of damping and keeping it all under control, as do the rear ToyTec Boss shocks.

Once the pavement ends, the firmness of the springs up front becomes a little more obvious, but again – easily cured with some added weight – and despite the firm ride, the unwillingness to bottom out on anything if you carry too much speed into something a little rougher than expected is appreciated. Out back, the springs flex well, and the shocks keep everything in-check both front & rear.

The included diff drop is a nice touch, although a little basic in overall design, and cumbersome when it comes to the OEM skid plate mounting – but free is free, and it gets the job done.

Overall – this is a quality 3 inch lift (and yes it really is a full 3 inches!) that’ll get the 3rd gen 4Runner over & through a vast majority of obstacles on any given trail, any day, any time. This is equipment that would suite the basic to intermediate driver and is great value for the money.

I recommend this to anyone looking for an above-entry-level, under $1k, complete lift kit for a dedicated trail rig or even a daily driver.

This is a really fantastic lift for the money. I’ve got a black ’02 4Runner with the the bronze TRD simulated “beadlock” wheels on KO2 BFGs. This lift completes the look of my truck and I get compliments on it all of the time. Off road this lift is very comfortable and allows me to slither over most terrain without bottoming out. This lift seems to function better when your bombing through the trails at a fairly high speed; almost as if the ride becomes more comfortable. 3 inches is prefect for me: Not an ostentatious height but yet, it offers far superior performance over stock suspension. Performance is the order of the day for me; I care more about how something does versus how it looks, and fortunately I get the best of both worlds with this suspension. This option is infinitely better than buying a cheap “puck” lift/leveling kit. Spend the money and you’ll appreciate the quality that Bilstein and Boss offer!

I was very concerned about this lift. Many have stated that you should go with Tundra TRD struts and Landcruiser springs, because the kits out there are way to stiff and don’t flex. I have to say the ride is better than stock. The Bilstien shocks add a level of plushness that was unexpected. The truck looses nothing as a comfortable daily driver and gains as a weekend wheeler. The ride is only a tad bit stiffer but is much appreciated. It doesn’t lean as much. Excellent kit for under 1k. Well done.

I am very happy with the lift, the Toy looks a lot better and it handles extremely well on the road, I haven’t been offloading yet but I’m sure it will work well. Before and After pictures posted to show the clearance gained. The pre-assembled front coils are great, they make for a super easy install of the front, no need to get coil compression kits, just swap the old for the new and done, for the front make sure you have a 36″ crow bar to extend the arm to allow the new longer shock to go in. The front differential drop kit is very easy to install as well. Getting the back coils to go in is a bit trickier than the front due to the longer coil, using a couple of good jack stands the hydraulic jack and the crowbar was enough to insert the coils. If you are thinking of doing this install yourself, like me, I say go for it!

I threw this lift on my wife’s 99 and she loves it. I purchased it with the front set up already assembled and it made it iso easy. It is definitely worth the up charge for that to be done!

So far the ride is much better than stock and it did get rid of the back end sag. The pics below are a before and after pic to give an idea of what it looks like with stock size wheel and tires. The front wheel chamfer will need to be adjusted once the kit is installed.

I would highly recommend this lift to anyone!

Ride quality feels better than I expected (similar to stock but better). Install was pretty straight forward took about 5-6 hours. Diff drop was also a simple install that took about 20-30 minutes. I went with 285/75/16 mud terrain (little bigger than what’s recommended for this lift) so I had to do a little trimming of the front bumper and fender liner. Very happy with this lift and would definitely recommend to a friend.

  1. Answered by the admin Hello This kit includes: D558 Bilstein front 5100 series 2 shocks 112-620 Eibach/Toytec 2 front coil springs 620lb spring rate TAC-DR Front diff drop kit Rear ToyTec 9602RC 3″ lift 2 coils TT-9602R – New Upgraded ToyTec 2 Rear Boss Shocks from Summer 2016 Add assembly to have your coilovers presassembled with new top mounts, bushings and hardware. There is no difference from which side to install the coil.   the main thing is not to confuse the rear and front
  2. Answered by the admin Hello In principle it is possible, but then you will need other springs. The fact is that the shocks 5100 have a Body Diameter of 46 mm, and the shocks 6112 have a Body Diameter of 60 mm
  3. Answered by the admin It is not recommended to have more then 3'' of lift - can be harmful for the suspension
  4. Answered by the admin Rear shocks are not adjustable - they will not lift your truck by themselves - some lift kit options as longer coils or maybe spacers will be required for a lift. These shocks are only longer then the stock shock - designed for use with the existing lift.
  5. Answered by the admin Such tires and smaller will definitely fit: Rim* Tire Width* Tire* Backspace* 8" 12" 32.5" 4.5"
  6. Answered by the admin Rim* Tire Width* Tire* Backspace* 8" 12" 32.5" 4.5" such measurements will fit without rubbing
  7. A OME is my personal recommendation for a 2wd since it’s probably gonna be more for looks
  8. Answered by the admin Maybe is not standing on flat ground or has some additional weight
  9. Answered by the admin Yes you may do it but if using front lift coils - please set 6112s on the lowest notch adjustment
  10. Answered by the admin Lifts both front and back. Rear lift is by ToyTec 9602RC 3″ lift coils
  11. Answered by the admin Shocks are adjustable, BUT not in this kit. (3″ average lift is achieved with coils and setting the shock adjustment on the bottom C clip setting) DO NOT EXCEED THIS SETTING OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR! If you change the setting on the shocks to any other position you will damage the suspension
  12. Answered by the admin The UCAs are always not the bad idea, but this kit can work without it.
  13. Answered by the admin If the lean is big you can try adjusting it with the coilover settings. If not - with the help of this https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyota-fj-cruiser/toyota-fj-cruiser-2010-2011-2012-2013/front-lifts/front-top-plate-spacer-one-14-inch/
  14. Answered by the admin They are not necessary but not a bad addition.
  15. Answered by the admin Ride quality is subjective. Should be better than stock.
  16. Answered by the admin

We recommend 32×11.50×15 tires, or a 275/70/16 tire on 8″ wheels with 4.5″ back spacing with this lift.

Your tires may fit, but maybe proper castor and chamber precise adjustment will be required or wheel spacers usage may be recommended for front wheels not to rub in the rough turns.

  17. A Yes 3" lift all around and yes the coils are slightly longer. I installed this kit a couple of weekends ago a long with some bigger wheels and tires, I gained about 5 inches in clearance from the ground. The ride quality is also much better than the old worn out suspension.
  18. Answered by the admin Yes, this kit will go - the rear coils are designed for up to +195LB of extra load.
  19. Answered by the admin We haven't tested this particular lift kit on the 2001 4Runner 4x4 3.0 Turbo Diesel, but if the suspension is equal to a gas engine 4Runner then it'll fit. Please keep in mind, that the lift kit manufacturer doesen't recommend it for 2wd 4cyl. models.

Because the weight of that vehicle is light and this lift kit will give too much lift.
